So you have found yourself here on this blog. How did you get here? What is this blog about? Who are these guys and why are they writing this thing?
This is a blog about Brett and James, their lives and the only baby they can legally adopt in Florida: a vintage Mercedes 560SL. They will be writing about their experiences of adoption, semi - restoration and the fun destinations the 560 has and will take them.
After the "about" posts, we have decided to write posts in the first person from here on out, so we will sign the post BES or JJF in the subject heading so you know who's voice to switch to our voice in your head. (If you've never met us and our voices are in your imagination, give Brett a light Chicago accent, give James one from Philly.)
Here are some photos of us:

So now that you know a little about us, perhaps we should talk about the car. It's known at Mercedes as an "R-107". But it's been known to everyone else as an "SL" which is short for "Sport Leicht" in German. Almost a quarter of a million were made 72-89 and sold internationally. Some pics are below if you don't remember it:
The Mercedes SL has debateably been the ultimate Mercedes model throughout its history, and was famously built like a tank and over-engineered to excess. It introduced Anti-Lock Brakes and Airbags to the world as well as crumple zones and collapsible steering columns. But while the car is a technical masterpiece, Almost everyone remembers this car for its great style.
REQUIRED WATCHING is this video below about the history of the car with an amazing 70's porn music soundtrack to get you even more in the mood :)
We see this car as an automotive work of art and as the iconic 80's Mercedes, appealed to our inner 80's child. We wanted to be lucky enough to own one of them. We had to have one. We started searching, and as the obsessive-compulsive, ADD, drama queens we are, The search became an obsession....
